This kit combines spectrographic analysis with particle count analysis. Spectrographic has inherent limitations of particles <5 microns, thus large particle catastrophic failure may be missed with spectro. (camshafts, as example, may produce chunks & clunks in failure mode and many times totally missed with Spectro alone) Particle Counting provides a total picture of contaminants in size distribution which may be missed with spectrographic analysis alone. A great tool, especially in engine oil by-pass filtration installations for determination of filter effectiveness.
NOTE: Double bottle rinse technique is required for results to be meaningful: PROCEDURE: Capture partial sample, put sample bottle top on, shake the bottle, dump contents, repeat same rinse/dump procedure; 3rd capture will be representative sample for analysis... This rinsing technique ensures a clean bottle and sample. (NOTE: highly recommend UPS as mail takes forever!) (Note: not for use for analyzing aircraft engine oil)
